Moab Is the Gateway to the West's Best River Rafting

No city in the American West puts you closer to more legendary whitewater than Moab, Utah. The red, sediment-rich Colorado River cuts right through canyon country just outside town, the Green River winds through some of the continent's most remote wilderness, and dozens of other rivers branch across the Colorado Plateau. Whether you have a few hours or a full week, there's a river — and a guided trip — built exactly for you.

River Rafting FAQs

Everything you need to know before hitting the water.

The Colorado River is ideal for first-timers. The Moab Half-Day and Moab Daily float trips offer calm water, stunning red canyon scenery, and no prior experience required. Both are excellent for families with children of all ages.
Westwater Canyon on the Colorado is the go-to for adrenaline seekers on a full-day trip, featuring Class III–IV rapids. For the ultimate multi-day adventure, Cataract Canyon offers Class IV–V rapids rated among the best big-water runs in North America.
The Colorado's distinctive red-brown color comes from iron-rich sandstone sediment suspended in the water — eroded from the surrounding canyon walls over millions of years. The result is the iconic muddy red river that defines Moab's canyon country landscape.
The Colorado River is right next to Moab and offers both short day trips and multi-day adventures with varied whitewater. The Green River is best known for long, remote multi-day wilderness floats — think Desolation Canyon and Labyrinth Canyon — where you'll go days without seeing a road or building.
The main rafting season runs March through October, with peak season May through September. Some rivers like the Dolores are only runnable in spring. Visit our full FAQ page or contact us for season-specific details.
